Latin social dance classes are offered in both Flamenco and Folkloric for adult students.
Flamenco is a form of Spanish folk music and dance from the region of Andalucia in southern Spain. Flamenco is often associated with the Romani people of Spain. Both hand and footwork are important to the style of Flamenco. The handclapping or Palmas is an art in itself, and although it may look easy, it isn’t! The palmeros should weave intricate rhythms around the base of the song used in conjunction with the footwork the zapateado.
Folklórico dance is a collective term for traditional Latin American dances that emphasize local folk culture with ballet characteristics, pointed toes, exaggerated movements, highly choreographed. It generally involves movements with arms raised above the head and legs exposed.
